The greatest advantage to the stirling engine is that it is an external
combustion engine. Coupled with a turbodiesel engine in a stationary setting (e.g.
genset) could prove ultra efficient, as the stirling could be run off the
waste heat of the diesel. Additionally, I have heard that the stirling on its
own can produce a similar amount of power for fuel compared to an internal
combustion engine due to its own heat recovery process. The diesel/stirling combo
would be impressive.

I'm sure I rabbited on about it before... Couple a TD to a Stirling
to suck up excess heat from coolant/exhaust and use o/p of Stirling
to charge batteries in parallel with a brake supplemented electric motor
and you'd have a pretty efficient vehicle.
Perhaps cast the Stirling onto the 'hot head' of the diesel.
OKAY make it switchable in case toes get too cold in winter...
