Rob mentioned propane fumigation recently. I have been planning that on my
1.6TD vanagon, I have just had other priorities. The camping equipment has the
propane tank already. My thought has been that I would like to use it just
to give a little power boost at WOT when under boost. I would add two
switches, one on the pump to register WOT and a boost switch to register 8 psi or so.
If both switches were on then it would send propane. That would certainly
assist on very big hills and such. Most driving conditions would be unaffected
(I try to avoid WOT in ordinary driving). Someone mentioned lowered EGT's
(Hayden?). Is that due to a cleaner burn or the propane lowering the intake
temps? It would be nice to cruise up Big Hill with a vanagon camper powered by a
little 1.6TD and still average 28+ MPG.
