[Vwdiesel] heavy-duty alternator for on-board genset ??

Rolf,

If you do a google search on VW Rabbit Diesel EV Pusher. The EV pusher
has a large generator on it, like you describe, to charge the host
vehicle, which it pushes (via a trailer hitch).

I see oversized altenators as problematic, with a requirement
for higher power/torque belts, etc. There's also the issue of
speed/power regulation, which might be less of an issue with a
TDI.

You're probably looking at inverters, for the kind of power I think
you might generate. Not a big problem, as inverters are a commodity
item these days, in all levels of market. (Assuming 120V 60Hz)

Good luck,

Val
