Hagar,
You are an inspiration. I am a big time experimenter here too.
As you probably know I am a ham radio operator. I'm not much of a mechanic,
but at 42 yrs old I learned to paint the thing a few months ago. My cost
$15.00 !
The other week I welded the top of the strut housing with a MIG (first time,
no teachers). Looked awful but I learned a little. Next time will be better.
I am a scrounger extraordinaire, like most hams, and looks for parts,
antennas, radios, cheap cars.....whatever folks are giving away or selling
cheap.
My current driver is either a $100.00 86 Golf with 411k kms on it or a 77/87
Austin Mini I recently imported from Wales with who knows how many miles on
it. (it;'s a FrankenMini consisting of many parts from many years, as they
changed very little over the years, much like the VW Beetles.) My 78
Canadian Mini awaits resto.
But I digress. (*of course I do, that's the point. ) LOL! (or "HI HI" as us
hams type to indicate laughter.)
Currently I am connected wirelessly to some unknown local Internet access
point via 2.4GHz WiFi using a Tim Hortons 369g/13Oz coffee can as an
antenna. I swear it's the Gods' honest truth. 12dB SNR. (we'll say an 539
report for those CW hams amongst us). (2 bars for those of us who have no
idea what I'm talking about, but have used wireless.)
P.S>- Always enjoy the scrounger/high MPG/bought a car for $100/made it home
using bread ties and a bandaid posts from everyone. Shows ingenuity !
73 (Best Wishes),
Mike
