[Vwdiesel] VW TD powered Subaru

My friend stopped by with his Subaru wagon today.  I rudimentally measured 
the engine bay and my spare 1.6 TD and it looks like it will fit.  I will need 
to install it in the 50° vanagon angle in order to fit under the hood, or else 
make a cutout in the hood for the valve cover.  :-)  It is a longitudinal 
setup.  There is just barely enough room to fit the engine between the tranny and 
the radiator/fan.  The Subaru has a mechanical fan on the engine side.  Would 
it be acceptable/effective to put a slim electic fan on the front of the 
radiator instead?  Didn't some Volvos have that setup?  It would give a lot easier 
clearance.  The car is in really good shape for $500.  A dented fender and 
dented bumper are about it.  Cruise control and A/C are functional.  The on/off 
4WD from the driver's seat is nice.  Should be a very fun project.  Good excuse 
to practice using that new mig welder I just got.  :-)
