[Vwdiesel] VW TD powered Subaru

My friend stopped by with his Subaru wagon today.  I rudimentally measured
the engine bay and my spare 1.6 TD and it looks like it will fit.  I will
need
to install it in the 50° vanagon angle in order to fit under the hood, or
else
make a cutout in the hood for the valve cover.  :-)

Trick "power bulge" in the hood?




It is a longitudinal
setup.  There is just barely enough room to fit the engine between the
tranny and
the radiator/fan.  The Subaru has a mechanical fan on the engine side.
Would
it be acceptable/effective to put a slim electic fan on the front of the
radiator instead?

Absolutely.  Fans actually pump (push) more air than they can suck, so setup
as a pusher in front of the rad is ideal. Just be sure to secure it well,
and cushoin and seal it with good weatherstrip.
