  The plastic PC boards CAN fail at this age.  They ARE plastic so they 
can get brittle and crack or even disintegrate.  I've already seen some 
that way and have fixed one or two.  If you're quick you can solder 
jumper wires across breaks or from a terminal further back to one 
on the other side of the break.
  A little steel wool on the bulb holder contacts can often brighten up 
those dim instrument lights as well.  Dad's pu sure could've used 
another bulb or two in there.  Hard to read the odometer at night 
with only two bulbs working on reflection.
