Would a problem with the tranny cause the inner cv to fail?

If the seal between the flange and the inner joint is gone, it can cause the tranny fluid to leak into the boot.  It's just not as good a lubricant.  My inner joint definitely loosened up after suffering that misfortune.  The inner joint clip had come off the shaft allowing the axle to pound the seal.
