[Vwdiesel] Speedo numbers

I was a bit confused when Loren mentioned that the speedo number needed to 
match a replacement speedo.  I was thinking vanagon where the cable is attached 
to the front rotor/wheel assembly, rather than the tranny gear.  Anyway, my 
friends quantum speedo is still very inaccurate.  The number on it is 1575.  Is 
that number available for the golf/jetta/rabbit or is it a quantum only?  Does 
the quantum share the same gears for the tranny end of the speedo?
