[Vwdiesel] 5 speed transmission

Hey, I'm looking to do some road tripping this summer, hopefully on
veggie oil. Already have some good ideas about making a huge tank (20-30
gallons) in the trunk, but one thing just holds me back. I've got a 4
speed tranny. Now, this is not an issue of improved mileage or anything
like that, its just I don't feel very comfortable driving 65mph for
extended periods with the engine sounding like my motorcycle when I've
got it pegged at about 12,500rpm.

I'm in no hurry, but if someone happens across one in or around New York
state that's going for cheap, I'm interested. I'd actually prefer one
that's in need of a rebuild, so that I can get inside it and make sure
everything is in order before trying to drive it 6000 miles. The non-GTi
one would probably be a better bet too, with the wider spread of gears.
