Hagar, I have a pair of NI-FE batteries here, 2x6v = 12v.
The terminal posts are SS bolts over an inch in dia.
They are about 30 years old and still seem to work just fine. I think they
are 400ah.

I might run them in goldie next winter, but would like to be sure they are
top-notch first.

Should I dump them periodically (like every 40 years) and refill with new
caustic?

I have not examined if they have drain plugs on the bottom. What woud the
proceedure be?

I top up with steam distilled water once in a while. There is a bit of oil
floating on top of the electrolyte to retard evaporation.

I havent looked for info yet, but I'm curious.

Sandy
