but still get 50 in the Passat tdi.  I consider it to be a truly
remarkable car.


  In Dad's Passat he gets about 48mpg or a tad less.  My wife drove it on 
two trips and got 53mpg.  I've driven it a lot and get 43 to 44 to the beach 
and back and somehow manage to only get 42mpg on the cross country 
jaunts I've done in it.  That's mountains, flatland, 65mph, 80mph and 
most of it with the cruise.  Any and all of those conditions.  :-P  The 
cruise 
doesn't seem to ROMP it like some of the older ones tended to so it 
SHOULD do well.  (Those are all US mpg figures)
