[Vwdiesel] Honing advice needed!

Hello all,

I started honing my 1.6TD block tonight, using a 3" 180grit flexhone. 
Seems to work ok, but I was surprised that vertical scoring which was not 
all that obvious before honing seems very evident after honing. I am not 
sure if I should continue to hone until these vertical lines are gone, or just 
leave it at 30-40 seconds per bore as per the instructions (I've done 
perhaps 20-30 seconds so far).
I'm using a 1/2" drill at about 500-700 rpm (instructions say 500-1200 rpm) 
and stroking quite quickly up&down to achieve approx 30degree 
crosshatches that appear close to the original.

I'd appreciate any advice on this before I proceed, so I've posted some
