You might check the charger to see if it has a current limit on it, hook it to the battery or a 12V light and see if it'll draw 
some current that way.  Or for the acid test, just click the two clamps together.  My charger will make a nice spark when you do 
that and the meter pegs.  If the charger won't drive the plugs (they do pull a bit over 10A cold), then try powering them with a 
pair of jumper wires off the battery posts.
