  But then there are "drain" holes in the bottom of the intake manifold, 
into each runner.  Not much can pool and blotting it up, even on a good 
engine, looks the same the next day.  At least in my experience.  
More blowby coupled with more oil trying to return, both using the 
same passages in the head and block are the biggest contributors to 
runaway IMO.  Of course a blocked screen will let oil pool in it and 
blow through what little opening there is instead of collecting and 
dripping back into the engine.
