This is mostly about Gavrik Petersons -----1.6L NA Rabbit.
Yes I Hagar recommended to Gavrik that he try LM Diesel Purge ---"The strong medicine for
sick diesels".
I am a LOT more optimistic about his diesel --- than he is.
He will NOT have any problems in the long run. ---- I have seen it , I have listened to it
I had several rides in it ------- it is one hell of a nice totally rebuildt Engine. It belongs in the
Harrods collection.
In a Rabbit like that, with his aggressive way of driving ----50 miles to the gallon US ?.
That to me is proof that it is working just fine.
Gavrik you are blessed --- living that close to Loren -----and I am sure you can get Hexyl Nitrate in seattle.
Is it necessary to suspect FUEL ? ----YES. ----- I have this little Kubota 4 banger and it
ran like a top. Then on a friday night I ran out of fuel. ----Saturday the only bulk plant open was Shell.
So I got some fuel ----but when I started it it smoked and rattled so bad I figgured the
engine was in trouble. -----Then the smarts kicked in. I pumped the fuel out and borrowed som
ESSO fuel from a guy next door. ---BINGO ----it was shitty fuel. . And she still runs like a TOP
many years later. ----- That is why I wrote Diesel fuel 101 and Fuel 101.
Further you must check and make sure the Valve clearance is PLENTY when hot.
James and Loren and Val probably advised you --EH ?.
I know Gavrik and if he can not get it running like a top ---with help from here ? ----nah unthinkable.
Getting Hexyl Nitrate now ---is important ------the shitty Canadian fuel from TAR SANDS is
invading --the US by the thousands of tons. ---Any time price is around 50 dollars US a barrel ?
that is what is going to happen. -----There is NO way you can get a straight answer from
big Oilbarons about the exact CETANE number. -----Gasoline Octane number ? yes
diesel cetane ? ---NO WAY.--------- remember VW designed the Rabbit for about 55 cetane
and we here in this town are sometimes getting way below 40. Read Gary Bangs
he explaine the stanadyne solution --I think Roger Brown did too.
Regardless Gavrik we will do some tests on your pumps. ----yes make sure you do not
loose that spare pump of yours.
