[Vwdiesel] No Start update

It certainly sounds like those hydraulic lifters. When
testing them my book talks about pushing down on them and
looking for a maximum of 0.1mm. doesn't mention minimum
though.
When I renewed my head It would not start. I tried jumping
but it would only splutter and die.  My book also mentions
after letting them [lifters] rest; the engine should be run
at 2500 rpm for a minute or so.
No help if the bloody engine won't start thought I :o(
The way mine started was to use the dreaded 'diesel start'
...It bucked a couple of times and fired up. Since then the
only time it doesn't startup straight away is if  glow plugs
are dead. This is a thing of the past now.
