    Check out Len Deighton's novel _Bomber_ for an accurate overview
of German radar ca. mid-1943.  The story itself is pretty grisly, but
he did the research on both the ground operated and airborne radars
the Luftwaffe used at the time.  I first read it about 30 years ago,
and have yet to find any major flaws revealed in either technical or
scholarly accounts.  The subject is treated a bit more in depth in
_The Other War: Luftwaffe Night Fighters vs. Bomber Command_.
    Hope Hagar hasn't ever tried to bale out of a Hampden.

    Had a '73 years ago.  Fitted a Hooker header and a smaller
countershaft sprocket and was competitive against 750 Honda 4's
through the quarter.  Yamaha punched them out to 750, twiddled with a
few other parts, and sent them out on the dirt with this kid named
Kenny Roberts and cleaned house.  At least until Harley prevailed upon
the AMA to change the rules and ban them.
