[Vwdiesel] cleaning carbon clogged rings without disassembly

That sounds like a good maintenance idea to me. In the present case I need
to get the engine running acceptably well in the first place. As of
yesterday all the injectors were yanked and the magic elixir (mix of thick
oil reinforcer like STP and Xylene solvent) poured in all holes. The
injector nozzle holes in the heat shields were choked down to pinpoints in
three of the four cylinders with hard carbon deposit.

Best carbon cleaner I've found was to run a quart of ATF in the engine
at every change. The ATF is highly detergent. Over the course of a few
oil changes, you'll clean your motor out.
