Nick, glad to hear you do not have to go back into the
shortblock. I have been away from list for a bit so I
guess this was covered....maybe not.

Where these new hydraulic lifters, if so, could they
possibly be the wrong ones holding the valves open?
I know all hydraulic lifters are same circumference to
drop in the hole, but what about the pump up, not
pumped up issue, could this be part of the issue
holding valves open when they should not be open????
How could they have messed up the shaving of your head
that badly?
***

I ask this because..............
I got 2 new hydraulic lifters for my head to replace
shattered 2 and there is a difference in what I call
the "back pocket" area (looking at the bottom of the
lifter) behind the nipple that makes contact with the
top of the valve. The back pocket area of the lifters
that were in the head are depressed much farther down
then the 2 new lifters I have. All are INA brand, but
no numbers on the two news ones I got from Worldpac.
I ordered them as lifters for a 92 Canadian golf with
1.6na motor, (034 109 309N).

Anyway, the height of the nipple is the same on both
old and new lifters, I just wonder if these are going
to give me a similar no compression issue.

What do you think Nick, and all?
If these are a new set of lifters, maybe the are not
correct size??? Puzzled

Bryan from NJ.
1.9na that needs to go back together one of these
days.
