[Vwdiesel] Alternate Fuels Tree Huggers and Economics

Economics playa a major role in some of our lives in regards to the choices 
we HAVE to make.
Like it or not.


  AMEN!  As a carpet installer I've HAD to drive a full sized van for 15 
years now.  When I can, I drive my Rabbit, Jetta or borrow Dad's Rabbit 
pu, all diesel.  Have a GM diesel van as well but it wasn't equipped with 
shelving, etc, so I let a friend use it to keep it alive.  He killed it.  :-(
  Even with the diesel GM, it only got about 20mpg until the tranny 
wasn't shifting right and it dropped to 14mpg.  I can get nearly that 
with the gas one and have big grin factor from the domed pistons, 
headers, Holley carb etc.  :-D
  You just can't haul 100 yards of carpet on a bicycle or on the top of 
a hybrid.  I have however, put it on top of the Rabbit pickup and it not 
even flinch.  :-)  It's not always about being frivilous when you drive a 
low mpg vehicle.  :-P
