James,
Thanx for the input. I live NW of Toronto in a snowbelt and sure, I can
burn the WTF directly as fuel for an oil furnace to make much needed heat in
winter months.
So if I understand you correctly I would have to dilute the WTF quite a bit
with say home heating oil to get the carbon buildup problem under control.
Am I to understand then that using WVO one does not have the carbon and
injector coking problem? If that is true then that is the direction I'll go
with the genset.
As for diesel additives to help lubricity with low sulfur fuel on the old FI
pumps you mentioned two stroke engine oil. I picked some up today (it is
thin viscocity and blue color) to put in my new (to me) 1991 VW turbo diesel
jetta. On my 1.5D generator engine I have used a litre of compressor oil
mixed with about 7 gallons of diesel fuel and the engine seems to like it.
The compressor oil is listed as a low ash oil formulated to dissolve and
prevent the formation of carbon deposits. That sounded good to me. It is
heavier viscocity too than the 2-stroke oil and slightly cheaper. What say
you about using air compressor oil? I got them at Wally Mart. The 2-stroke
oil was about $2.40/litre. the compressor oil about $1.99. This is quite
inexpensive compared to the $6+ charged for a litre of actual diesel fuel
conditioner. Such savings if they work sound like a great idea to me!
Go ahead and say something funny about the BATF if you want...WTF. ;)
