[Vwdiesel] Genset RPM and Diesels

Reworking this plant with the present antique 1500 RPM alternator that is being run at 1800 RPM, and is only good for 10 kW anyhow and right now the engine can push it to 9 kW, just isn't worth doing. I will likely leave it as is until a better alternator comes along. With a 15 or 20 kW, 1800 RPM newer alternator it would make sense to run a belt reducer and run the engine faster.

Time to move on. I have to build another plant, one that CAN fully power my machine shop and it may as well have a welding generator directly included in it as well as a AC alternator.

It was a case of overloading the engine.

If overloading the engine at that speed, it would make sense to rework your setup to the max torque area for the engine.
