[Vwdiesel] Vanagon Diesel Starter replacement

One thing to do is to run a temporary wire from battery +ve
to a convenient switch inside the vehicle and then back out
to the solenoid... If you use some household twin core you
then only have to run a 'single'  wire to this switch. This
will of course remove any problems with ignition switch.
 Is it definitely the starter solenoid clicking and not some
irrelevent relay elsewhere that you can hear?
I say this because for some reason I became obssesed with a
relay that clicked with ignition and my fiddling with it
seemed to cure a similar problem that I  had had.
Truth is that AFAIK power route is always battery to a
supply rail on fuse box directly off and then to ignition
switch and finally down to solenoid.
Don't buy a replacement yet!
