[Vwdiesel] Vanagon Diesel Starter replacement

I posted a long and detailed set of directions for the starter on the
vanagon list years ago.  In short, you've got it right: the solenoid
grease tends to get hardened and dirty and not very greasy after a
while, and the dreaded whining-but-not-engaging starter routine begins.
The hammer works for a while, but less and less.  Fortunately, the
cleaning is ridiculously easy: pull the starter (one bolt goes all the
way through the 'firewall' and is --barely-- visible down by an intake
manifold pipe), pull the solenoid, clean, reassemble.  Don't need to
take the solenoid apart... I've done it, wasn't worth the trouble.
