[Vwdiesel] Mercedes IP w/ VW diesel eng ??

hey, is this absolutely insane?
is there any way, do you think, to mate a Mercedes injection pump to a 
VW diesel engine?
(5 cyl to 5 cyl of course)
the Mercedes IPs are famously bulletproof when running vegetable oil, 
which I do
and they also seem to be more plentiful on the used market
is this nuts? obviously, it would be an involved procedure, you'd have 
to get timing, pressure, duration right, not to mention mounting, drive 
to engine, and custom lines
but thoughts, anyone?
