I think you will have more work and shade-tree engineering that you
really want.

1- The MB is a chain driven pump.

2- The MB timing device is located in the chain sprocket of the
IP.(external to the pump)

3- The MB pump is engine oil lubricated.

4- The MB uses a vacuum diaphragm to cut off fuel to the engine during
shut down.
