The front wheel bearings are symetrical double race ball bearings.
Both of them get side loaded when turning either way, Could be either front
bearing. You've replaced the right? so it's probably the left. They get side
loaded whether they are on the out side or inside of the turning circle. The
sound inside seems to come from the middle of the floor.
Jack each front wheel, very securely, block the rear wheels, put the car in
high gear and rev to 35 mph, and check each knuckle with a mechanics
stethescope ( with the long rod)
Safety and disclaimers:
DO NOT LIE UNDER THE CAR in case the unmentionable happens.
(tie the rear towing loops to a big tree with chains)
try to reach around the tire, turn the steering wheel a bit, whatever, to
get access,
Beware the tire, which can grab clothing.
Not to be attempted by persons who have no fear of machinery. My grandfather
was killed in a factory accident, attempting to slide a belt from a dead
pulley to a live pulley on a line shaft. The belt caught his coat and he
went around the shaft with it.
He had been doing it that way for years.
