[Vwdiesel] Poor heater output

Really, the disassembly isn't that hard, I know you
can handle that. It is, however, time consuming. (I
know, I'm in the middle of it with my Corrado, well
I'm ready to reassemble.)

It is a Corrado, but the Passat should be very very
similar.
Once you get the heater box part out of the car, you
just have to pop the little clips off and the tabs
that hold the top and bottom halves together to put
new foam on the air control flaps.
I'd bet money that is the root of your heating
problems and everything else is a band-aid at best.
(and not that great of a band-aid).
I'd also consider buying a new heater core for the
car, since you would be pulling it out anyway to do
this.
