[Vwdiesel] Rabbit droppings # 237 ----( the Tea bags --Silica -Gel )

Most grain dryers use either propane or natural gas to make warm air. Only
the tractor running the dryer with a power take off shaft need use diesel.
You could probably adapt a dryer to do so, but that would be expensive to
use. I have a 1.6D ready to graft onto my dryer so it's self contained, and
I don't need to wear out a tractor to use it.
I dried canola with aeration fans this fall- 7.5 hp electric motors that
just blow air. Barley with my Habco 1M btu grain dryer. That's how it goes
when you get only four actually dry days in a harvest season to do 2000
acres.
My fuel costs this year on 5000 gallons of diesel doubled. Nice.
I haven't used the dryer for five or six years until this year.
A farmer generally invests his risk capital in a few different crops rather
than one. It's called risk capital because it is. risky. Crop failure
means 150/acre in costs are gone. Pfft. Start over.
Next time you hear someone complaining about farmers whining about poor
crops, I'd appreciate it if you would point that out to them.
Farming makes a roulette wheel look like a sure thing sometimes. :-)

Hagar sez : When James Hansen mentioned that there was cartridges
available for drying
fuel in Diesel equipment tanks ? --- I Hagar just had to find out. ----So
I Googled
Drying Diesel Fuel.------blow my socks.----I Never knew that Farmers used
Diesel Fuel for
drying crops -------Talk about "Hardships" ----

A Farmer invest ALL his Money and Work --in a crop say Canola---or
wheat.----Then Mobil
Exxon doubles the cost on drying fuel by two---? Profit
? ---gone -.-GONE..
I hope for James that Canola does not need to be dried---? ---we may need
Canola Oil
soon.----jeepers that is a scary scenario IMHO.
Well Silica Gel does work ---so study it --- like I do.

Hagar.
