[Vwdiesel] Pump timing/Reading a dial indicator

Sounds all good.
The pump can be 180 degrees off.  There is a timing mark on the pump
sprocket that need to be lined up with the top of the pump- the "line" left
by the two mold halves when the pump was cast.  Clean the pump side of the
pump sprocket well to find that (brake cleaner on a rag).  If the marks all
line up, and your timing procedure is good, you're good to go.
You had the injector lines off?
Does it make smoke?
You have the correct flywheel timing mark?
