[Vwdiesel] Injection pump timing

I have to lean toward Doug's idea on this.
You'll likely get more bang for your effort with new injectors, clean air
filter or bigger exhaust.
If the timing's close then you might gain a little but shouldn't gain
all that much by playing with it except for possibly advancing it a
bit for freeway driving. For MY Rabbit, with the yellow dot pump,
advancing it .010 made a great change for the 60 to 65mph limits
vs the 55mph it was built under. Of course I was told 1.05mm at
the dealer and Bentley says 1.15mm. Yellow dot cars NEVER had
measurement timing specs on the yellow sticker. It was always
in degrees BTDC. Perhaps I was timed wrong before or now, hard
to tell which since Bentley DOES have a few misprints.
I gained no real mileage but a little dirveability however it DID do better

for 55mph limits, at teh 1.05mm setting. (Only 107-A, Yellow dot pumps,
time at these settings!)
Mileage gains come from good injectors, clear exhaust and intake, easy
acceleration and driving slow, in general.
