Yes, it's the same engine... :-) I was careful to set the pump right on spec for timing,
although I am driving with the cold start out, since I have no cable, so it's a bit
advanced at idle to 2000rpm.

This morning I tweaked the fuelling another 1/8 turn and saw smoke for the first time
just punching the throttle in the driveway. So I backed it off about 1/16 until smoke
went away and took for a short spin. I now see boost beginning at 2000 rpm, and
power much earlier, and smoother transition with boost coming in. Seeing 8psi at 3k
rpm now without much effort, but also getting 900rpm EGT on short hills, so I may
need to back off a bit. I have oil press and temp gauges - oil is 25psi at 2k rpm, 40psi
at 3k rpm, and oil temps range from 180 to a max of 210F so far. I plan to go to
Victoria and back today, so should have some more numbers later.

I was able to pull our short torture hill in 2nd, starting from a stop in 1st, and had to
shift to 3rd at the top since I was running out of revs! I can't even do this hill in 2nd in
my Jetta without a run at it! :-))
