[Vwdiesel] Good and bad news today...

Must be nice to be able to wait on it. I had to send mine off to Majestic
Turbo in Tx. Took them 9 days and lightened my wallet $345. This was for my
K14 off my 91 ECO Jetta. It had 158k on it and they said it had Sevier
carbon build up in the bearing area and would not have lasted much longer. I
can really hear it now and having 13psi boost is nice. I was going to send
it to A1 but I was told by several riceburner car owners that Majestic was
really good. They had great customer service!

I just had one done at A1 Turbo in Gardena, CA. (Los Angeles) he did it
while I waited. $398, cool guy.

Prices are steep but they have KKK turbos.

The good news: the van made it over the Malahat and back, and I found an
elusive dual WP pulley for my PS on the way. Met a guy swapping the starter
on his gas Westy at Malahat Auto. Met a nice couple from Eugene Oregon on
the way back, who had stopped to admire the view and had a bad noise when
they restarted - helped them determine their A/C had seized and was burning
the belt. Snipped the belt and they were on their way.
My bad news: it appears I may blown the turbo seals - I have oil leaking
from the intake side, and a puff of smoke upon startup which I didn't have
before. Also, the bearings don't sound so good when I cut the engine
anymore, a slight bit of grating noise as it spins down.
Anyone got a K14 for sale?
ps: I was getting 9psi boost at WOT in 4th, max EGTs were 1050F, max oil
temps 230F, oil pressure at that temp was 30psi at 3000rpm.
