  No!  That's what, as my brother in-law reffers to as "hammering the pump."  

They won't last long that way.  I'd just pipe it into the return at no 
pressure.  
I have a Subaru engine that I started doing that to.  Got it nearly all 
together 
and then everybody sold their running and not, Subs so my friend and I never 
got to finish it and try it out.  ;-(
