[Vwdiesel] Tach

Does this mean that if one had the know-how (Roger) that a transducer or
the like could translate the W terminal pulse to make a gas tach work?

Yes, it is used for the disel tachs and upshift lights. It does put out
a signal whose frequency varies with RPM. However, as
I noted earlier, that frequency is about 12 times higher than an
ignition signal would be due to the source of the signal. If
you connect that to a "gas" tach as some have tried, you end up with it
reading something like 5000 RPM at idle and the the tach
is pegged at full scale as soon as you rev the engine.
