[Vwdiesel] Diesel engine in Karmin Ghia VW etc.

I don't have the weights around anymore, but for referrence, it is fairly easy for one person to carry a Type I long block - about as easy as carrying a Rabbit short block. A built up 1200/1300/1500/1600 with heat exchangers is still lighter than a complete w/c, but not really all that much. Moving the battery into the front trunk, and adding a rad/fan and ducting into the spare tire well should easily bring the center of gravity very close to where it started out.
A TDI 'rado would be super-cool, but that is one porky little car. The whole idea (to me) is to get the engine into a 2000 pound or less car so it can really get pwr/wt ratio right. Of course, getting a 150 HP twin cam PD would be an even better way to do ANY of these.......
