[Vwdiesel] Diesel engine in Karmin Ghia VW etc.

I don't know if a TDI in a Scirocco would be much
easier or cheaper to do...

TDI engines are going at a premium right now, and I've
got a good 1.6 sitting in a Rabbit at my house that
isn't doing anything right now.

Sure the engine would bolt in much easier, but getting
the wiring figured out would be the problem. And if I
was going to go Scirocco, I'd much rather go with a
Corrado, which is something I want to do anyway. I
prefer a Corrado's looks over a Scirocco anyday.
(Sorry Eric S!)

The only real issue on a KG would be the cooling, and
I was originally thinking that a Fox radiator on the
side of the engine compartment would do the trick.
But then, I wasn't thinking of weight and steering
issues. I was thinking of how fun it would be to have
built the only diesel Karmann Ghia.

Maybe I'll do it, and have the spare tire filled with
cement. But then, I'd have to add an electric pump to
the windshield washer reservior! LOL

I had the heater all worked out mentally too, and it
was even going to use the stock controls.

I'll just make sure that I top off the fuel tank often
if I'm going to go racing around curves!

I just wonder how much of a difference this would make
in real life, if we aren't worrying over nothing
significant? I dunno.

How much does a diesel engine weigh with oil/coolant?
How about a type one engine?
