There are two sources of Citroen parts here in Calif.: Western Hemispheres, Santa Cruz & Citroen Concours, San Diego, JBM Industries, Kent, Ohio, Brad Nauss Auto, Mechanicsville, Penn., & many more. There are also several parts sources overseas. There are several Citroen clubs I belong to:Sacramento Valley Citroen Club, Citroen Car Club, Hollywood (LA), Citroen Club of North America, Mount Vernon, Ohio, & The Citroen Quarterly, Boston, Mass. & The Citroen Car Club of the UK. All have excellant publications. A good source to buy cars for sale by members as well as sourcing parts. There are a number of CX Citroens that have found there way into the USA following Citroen's pull out of the USA in 1974 but not many of the other post 1973 Citroens except for a number of 2-CVs re registered as 1966 & earlier, the last year imported cars could be brought into the USA (might be 1967, not sure) with out conforming to US regulations. There are a number of SM, DS/ID-19 & 21 models in the USA. However, now, foreign cars 25 years old & older can now be brought into the USA with out conforming to federal regulations. However, don't import a 25 year old or older car into the USA on my say so, check with US Custonms & other sources first to be sure.
As to parts availability, a couple of years ago I ordered a new starter for my 1970 ID-19 from Western Hemespheres 4 PM & at 2PM the following day, the UPS truck pulled into my driveway with the starter. I couldn't get parts for my new Ford Focus from the local Ford dealer that quickly, unless the part was in stock.
If interested in buying a used Citroen in the USA, join one or more of the clubs mentioned. Also subscribe to Hemmings Motor News & watch eBay & you should be able to find a good CX, 2-CV, or D series Citroen. If interest6ed in any of the clubs or parts sources try a Google search or ask me.
