No. Again, this thing produces full power just fine.
I could do a bleed, but experience has shown that if
an engine produces full power for hours on end,
there probably isn't a problem with air in the
hp injector lines.
When I drive this car, more than half the time it is running
65% or more power. Driving expressways is pretty much a
wide open throttle event, when nominal speeds are 80-85 mph.
Actually, the engine may not be at 100% much of the time,
because of RPM governing effects. However, it is fair to say
that it isn't loafing along at 30mph most of the time.

The cold start cable is correctly adjusted, however, during
the airconditioning months, I run the coldstart about 1/3
out, to increase the idle RPM, and prevent excessive
engine vibration under compressor load. I've done this on
a dozen or more VW IDI engines, and never experienced
these symptoms.
BTW, the timing effect of the cold start is supposed to be
not present at RPMs over 2000.
My daughter tends to run the coldstart all the way in, as
she doesn't run the AC. She runs the windows open, so that
people notice that SHE is driving. She has the same
symptoms, although perhaps more often, as she does less
expressway driving.
So, at least when it happens to me, the coldstart is partially
(1/3) out.
