It's happening more often.  Three times to me today.

I talked with a local diesel IP servicer.  His take is that the sleeve
which slides demanding higher injection levels may be hanging up.  A small
piece or dirt or wear.  Just a theory.  For him to bench the pump will 
be about $250, and to rebuild $500.  I'm far from convinced that is the 
course I should take.

Never had this problem before, and I've owned more than a dozen VW diesels.
