Try using Sal Soda (Soda Ash, Sodium Carbonate), I think it's what the big
Laundry Companies use. I use a little Sodium Hydroxide (lye), works
wonders. I have it around for making my Lutefisk.

My wife discovered Fuller "Fulsol." A bit of that rubbed into stains or 3
or so capfulls worth in a load not only gets out grease and oil but whitens
the whites a bit. Really killer stuff. Orange hand cleaner works well
rubbed into spots too. Gee, to get rid of a diesel smelling load the best I
can think of, if a rewash doesn't do it, is a couple days on a sunny
clothsline. Diesel DOES evaporate and with less residual smell than
gasoline usually.
