[Vwdiesel] Engine/transmission mounting problem

Well, I'm not sure.
The shafts should move in and out quite a bit as referenced to the inner
joint to outer joint measurement extended and retracted. I'm thinking
around 1-1/2" or so at least... never really paid it much attention.
When pushed fully toward the shaft, you can see the inner joint go from
shaft protruding to a hole over an inch deep when the joint is pulled
all the way away from the shaft, and that's just the inner, there's an
outer to consider as well. There should be lots of movement. Maybe the
joints just got joggled around and are binding? Without sounding silly,
maybe just try harder, and wiggle it around a bit to get the balls
seated properly. If they are dry, consider repacking them now, you're
most of the way there now anyway. If it hasn't been done in a long
time, just do the procedure, then you get to see just how much movement
there is firsthand, there should be quite a bit...
