The SilverStars are suposed to be good lights, but they don't seem to last long in most cases. 
Have heard of folks replacing them once a year or so.  One help with them is to upgrade the 
headlight wiring harness to ensure you are getting full system voltage to the lights.

Halogen lights burn out faster if they are not run hot enough.  I found that simply upgrading the 
headlight wiring on my '82 made the sealed beams I was running work so well, I decided to keep them.
