Yep, the latest copy of diesel progress has an article about
a jet powered (GE T58-8F, cut back) VW Beetle. He wasn't a
purist about burning oil, and this car has a regular gasser,
until he lights it up. 1350 hp, and has an afterburner.
Talk about scorching a tailgater!

According to the article, the turbine adds 300 lbs to the
vehicle.

The inlet is inside the cabin, which seems rather problematic.
Can't have the windows rolled up to pass cars. Brings a new
meaning to "hold on to your hat."

The same article has another interesting vehicle...a track/ski
fishing hut you can drive around and then lower to the ice.
Is insulated, heated, and has fold down bunks. Just what's needed
when the wife doesn't like her Xmas gift collection. Just go ice
fishing. Oh, thin ice? It floats.
