[Vwdiesel] Air in fuel lines

I found 3 places for air to leak into the lines on Dad's Passat TDI.
In the fuel tank a boot covering one of the lines had slipped and
would allow air back up the return line if the check valve failed, when
the car was off. Not sure that it DID let air in but it sure could.
Second was the thermo fuel thingy on top of the filter. The o-ring
leaked, and it wouldn't switch the fuel back at temp like it was
supposed to. In cold weather it's also recirculating the air right
along with the fuel so it takes a while to purge any air.
Third was the clear line itself and it's been a problem on other's
cars as well. I found it when I bumped the crimp to the rubber
hose. His was leaking on the tank end rather than the pump end
and working a bit of JB Weld into the end crip to hose area sealed
it up. Wiggling that hose around showed a change in bubbles before.
