[Vwdiesel] air to oil, oil cooler/84 TD

Hi Rudy;
	When I turboed a 1.6 diesel in my Rabbit pickup I used a Mocal
thermostat controlled sandwich plate. It had a 180 degree thermostat that
closed off the cooler till it reached that temperature. I think to use a
non- thermostat controlled air to oil cooler would be a mistake. For the
cooler I used the smaller of the two air conditioner condensers from a
Dasher. It is a 9 pass about 2 inches thick, 5 inches wide and over 20
inches long. I placed it in front of the radiator where it fit nicely.
Pulling and 8 percent grade in 100 degree weather the oil temperature never
went over 200 degrees. Cost including a few feet of Gorilla hose from my
local hydraulic people was under 100 dollars.
	My next oil to air cooler will be from an Audi V/8. It has a
thermostat and a long narrow oil cooler. I got it used from Maxmillian Motor
Sports in Chehalis WA. I'm pretty sure with a little fiddling it will bolt
up to the Rabbit diesel.

I'm wondering if anyone here has installed an auxiliary Air to Oil, Cooler.
Some ideas for an easy conversion would be helpful. Thanks in advance for
any ideas.

Rudy
