  Dad had similar issues with the Passat.  Sometimes he doesn't 
use it for weeks and it wouldn't start!  He's in a situation where the 
key doesn't need to be removed when it's parked.  Simply pulling 
the key (and apparently putting it back in is no problem) takes 
care of the heavy drain and cuts it to fairly minimal.  
  The CD/radio in my Jetta will drain a battery in a week or two 
unless I pop the face.  I had to make that a habbit if I wanted it 
to start when I wanted to use it!
