[Vwdiesel] engine shut down

Well I just got called into work because someone left our building
unsecured. Since I'm the building manager I had to go in and make sure
nothing was stolen. Needless to say it was a nice half hour drive to work
and then back. On the way back I was just running 60mph with cruise on and
the 91 ECO jetta just shut down. Figured no big deal the cruise just let
go, it does that every now and then. Went to give it gas and the pedal was
all the way to the floor. OOOPPPSSSS, now I'm thinking throttle cable broke.
So I went and turned the key off while coasting down to a stop and the pedal
came back to my foot, tried to start and it would turn over but nothing. So
now I'm thinking the hot wire came off the IP. Pulled over and popped the
hood and felt around in the dark and sure enough the wire was off. Of all
the times I go out this was the one and only time I didn't carry my cell
phone. Good thing there was a public building about 300 yards away. Bad
thing is the wife had to load up the kids that were ready for bed into the
van and bring me out my wire tools so I could connect it back up. So looks
like I will be getting and extra flash light and a small set of tools to
carry in the jetta with me. I was also thinking of putting a fuse in on
that line. Any place special to install the fuse? Oh since the engine was
dead it still coasted pretty well. No real resistance due to the engine not
running, so much for hoping for engine braking if you needed it for some
reason.
