Well, a little over a week ago, I pulled the trans and
clutch out of the car.
When I got it out, the disc was dry, other than a
little bit of gear oil on the bottom of it. (That
leaked in when I pulled the pushrod out before
removing the trans, the rest of the disc was dry.)
I could not find any reason for it to have slipped as
badly as it did, but was able to get the shop to
return it. I ended up having to order it from my
local shop (Manhattan Kansas) because the one I bought
the clutch from (Wichita Kansas) didn't have any.
The only thing I can think of is maybe somehow the
pressure plate was weak. I dunno...
Anyway, today I go the new clutch kit installed and
all seems well. The only issue is that when I lowered
the trans the first time, the speedo cable broke (my
bad...) so I've gotta get a new one.
Can't wait to be able to tow stuff again.
